Welcome. We are in the process of updating our Portfolio, so this is but a cell phone's glimpse of one current renovation in process and some digital photos of a design project at a USC office in California. We are continually updating our site - Other projects' photos will follow, along with professional photos, once completed. Click any photo for larger images and arrows. Past work can be found by linking our Portfolio dropdown menu - "From the Vault" . I can be reached at 240.935-8030 if you would like to discuss your own pending project. Thank you for stopping by! ANNAPOLIS, MD AREA WATERFRONT RENOVATION What started as a call for lighting from a returning client, has evolved into a total renovation. The house was completely gutted when I arrived; a shell for the most part, barring wooden beams, tarp dividers, and concrete floors. A labor of love (as all my projects are), this dream home has been unfolding over the last two years. Dressed to the nines in black and white, it took me a minute to grasp my client’s style because there was a missing link to her modern linear “cozy” request, and I was looking at wooden beams for a frame of reference. She is in the industry and had a vision. Once extrapolated (best word to describe the process), it’s like reading someone’s mind. I enjoy the challenge of getting there. Coming from a large family, I knew the heart in her photographs would create the coziness. Fortunately, I discovered what she left out of her request early on. She likes clean linear lines contrasted with a pop of drama, something this artist’s mind could easily wrap her head around. A curve here, a line there, her story is told through juxtaposition and contrast. Elegant elements of diversity in each detail of her furnishings culminate to become a lavish piece de ‘resistance in this modern black and white story… A story still evolving.
USC, LOS ANGELES, CA FILM EDITING PROFESSOR’S OFFICE This small 10′ x 10′ office space had to be maximized to serve for teaching moments, so students could meander in for advice, and also to give the Professor a space to focus and create his curriculum…and a space to rest in between his dual careers as a Film Editor and Film Editing Professor. Primarily designed digitally, I interviewed my client and visited the space while in LA, taking measurements. From there, 3D digital floor plans were produced, placing the client’s art by filling in the measurements with other art for perspective. Visuals for approval included a shopping list. Basic products came through places like Wayfair with direct delivery. His sofa was custom made, so we sent him samples of the leather and finishes. The project ran very smoothly and timely, meeting his schedule. Though we are still considering the possibilities for a rug, he loves his office as is; it checks off all his boxes, and he has received numerous compliments – which will make my testimonials when I get them posted. Updated photos will follow. I am posting these to show what can be accomplished with long distance digital design.
